⇒わざわざ行ってもなんの役にも立たない go somewhere for nothing
■ あちこち捜し回った結果「むだ足だった」という場合には go on a wild goose chase を用います。
英英定義 wild goose chase: a search which is completely unsuccessful and a waste of time because the person or thing being searched for does not exist or is somewhere else
