英作文練習：副詞節−結果 (1)
1. 強盗は手袋をしていたので、指紋は見つからなかった。
＜訳例＞
The burglar wore gloves, so (that) no fingerprints could be found.
◎＜so that S + V＞「そこで…、そのため…」
通例 so that の前にコンマを置きます。くだけた日常語では that を省略するのがふつうです。
2. 夕食をとらないで寝たので、今朝起きたとき非常な空腹を感じた。
＜訳例＞
I had gone to bed without having supper, so (that) I felt very hungry when I got up this morning.
3. この字はとても小さいので、メガネがないと読めません。
＜訳例＞
These letters are so small that I cannot read them without glasses.
◎＜so + ... + that S + V＞「非常に…なので〜」[結果] ; 「〜なほど…」[程度] 《... は形容詞・副詞》

＜訳例＞
The cake was so sweet that it made me feel sick.
5. この小説はとてもおもしろいから、一度読み出したらやめられないでしょう。
＜発想＞
「読み出したらやめられない」⇒「読み出したら読み終えるまでやめられない」
