1. 今年の冬は去年ほど雪が降らなかった。

In Hokkaido they have a lot of snow in winter.

＜訳例＞
We didn't have as much snow this winter as we did last winter.
◎＜not as [so] ... as＞「〜ほど…ではない」《… は形容詞・副詞または形容詞＋名詞》
くだけた日常会話では＜not so ... as＞よりも＜not as ... as＞のほうがよく用いられます。
2. 先週の講演会の聴衆はいつもよりだいぶ多かった。

＜訳例＞
There was a much larger audience than usual at the lecture meeting last week.
3. 試験は思ったよりやさしかった。

4. 旅行ほど楽しいものはない。

This is the most interesting book (that) I've ever read.
◎ 最上級の文において比較される範囲を関係代名詞の節で表すことができます。このとき関係詞節内では「経験」を表す完了形が用いられます。
